Classic Lasagna Recipe


This is a basic meat Lasagna recipe. You may substitute the meat with zucchini or other vegetables if desired.

Ingredients
* 16 dry lasagna noodles, adjust as needed for size of baking dish
* 1 pound ground beef
* 3 cups tomato sauce
* 2 pounds ricotta cheese
* 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, grated
* 2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
* 2 eggs, lightly beaten
* 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Cook lasagna in salted boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse.
3. In a large sauce pan, break up the ground beef with a fork and cook until browned.
4. Drain the fat from the meat. Add the tomato sauce. Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently.
5. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta, mozzarella, 1/2 cup Parmesan, beaten eggs, and parsley.
6. In a 13x9-inch baking dish, spread 1/2 cup of the meat sauce.
7. Place 4 lasagna noodles lengthwise over the sauce, overlapping the edges.
8. Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, cover with one-fourth of the tomato sauce/meat mix.
9. Repeat layers 2 more times ending with a layer of noodles.
10. Spread remaining sauce on top and sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
11. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes in pre-heated oven or until hot and bubbly.
12. Remove the foil and bake an additional 10 minutes.
13. Remove from the oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving.
