Italian Meatballs Recipe


This recipe makes a yummy classic Italian meatball. Feel free to add your own unique touch to the recipe. You might want to add chopped bell pepper, celery or whatever appeals to you.

Ingredients
* 2 slices stale white bread
* 1/3 cup milk
* 1-1/2 pounds ground beef chuck
* 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
* 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 1/4 cup grated onion
* 1 large clove garlic, finely minced
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1 large egg, beaten
* Freshly ground black pepper
* Olive oil, as needed

Directions
1. Grate the bread (or use a food processor) into crumbs.
2. Combine the bread crumbs with 1/3 cup milk in a small bowl, mix and let sit 2-3 minutes.
3. Remove bread and squeeze out excess liquid.
4. In a large bowl, combine the bread crumbs, beef, Parmesan, parsley, salt, onion, garlic, oregano, and egg. Mix well.
5. Season to taste with black pepper.
6. Form the meat mixture into 1-1/2 to 2 inche diameter balls, using your hands.
7. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
8. Add the meatballs and cook until browned all over, turning occasionally.
Note: If using the meatballs in sauce, you may cook them for 30-45 minutes directly in the sauce and omit steps 7 and 8 above.
