Easy Fried Oyster or Clams Recipe


Fried Oysters
Ingredients:
* 2 dozen large oysters
* 1 egg
* 1/4 cup milk
* Fine cracker crumbs (as needed)
* Vegetable oil (enough to completely cover oysters when frying)
* Salt to taste
* Pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Wash and thoroughly dry the oysters.
2. Combine the egg and milk in a small bowl and beat until frothy.
3. Dip the oysters into the cracker crumbs, then into the egg/milk mixture, and again into the crumbs.
4. Heat the vegetable oil until very hot, but not smoking.
5. Fry the oysters in the hot oil until brown.
6. Remove oysters from the oil, drain well, and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve hot.

Fried Clams
The same procedure used for oysters above may be used for fried clams
1. Remove the desired number of clams from the shells, wash and dry thoroughly.
2. Dip clams into the crumbs then into beaten egg/milk mixture, and finally into the crumbs again.
3. Fry in deep fat until they are a golden brown. Serve with slices of lemon.
